Onion Tomato Chutney Recipe

  • Big onion - 3 (you can use small onion too)
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium size
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Channa dal – 1 tsp
  • Red chilies – 3 (adjust according to your taste)
  • Asafoetida a Pinch 
  • Tamarind - small piece
  • Curry leaves few
  • Garlic - 2
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Salt 
For the seasoning
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Heat the pan with oil,add channa dal,urad dal and saute until golden colour then add red chilies.
  • Now add onions saute for 1 min then add tomatoes, garlic, tamarind, curry leaves, salt and asafoetida, saute in meadium flame untill  tomatoes completely cooked. Remove from flame.
  • Now allow the mixture to cool.
  • Then put it in the mixer grinder and grind it like a smooth paste.
  • Use oil, mustard and curry leaves for seasoning.
  • Ready to serve South Indian special Onion tomato chutney with dosa, idly and chapathi.
