Coconut sevai / Coconut idiyappam

Ingredients

  • Plain Idiyappam / string hoppers - 2 cups
  • Grated coconut - 3/4 cup
  •  Big onion - 1  
  • Green chilli / red chilli - 2 slit
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Channa dal – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Salt  

Preparation

  • Take the cooked plain idiyappam and smoothly break and keep it aside.
  •  Now heat the pan with oil, add mustard seeds allow it to splutter and add the channa dal,curry leaves asafoetida, after that add chillies saute for 2 sec.
  • Now add the grated coconut, salt to taste and stir well on low flame for 3 mins.
  • Add the plain idiyappam and mix well.  
  • Remove from flame and serve coconut idiyappam hot.
  • Enjoy the taste of south Indian samayal recipes.
