Samba Rave Kichadi / Broken Wheat Kichadi Recipe

 Ingredients
  • Samba rava – 1 cup
  • Water – 3 cup
  • Onion -1   chopped
  • Green chilli - 1 slit
  • Red chilli – 1 broken
  • Ginger small piece chopped 
  • Carrot - 1   chopped
  • Beans – 5    chopped
  • Green peas - few
  • Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp 
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Coconut oil - tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Channa dal -1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Coriander leaves few
  • Salt

Preparation
  • Heat the pressure cooker with oil, add mustard, channa dal and jeera , when it splutters, add finely chopped onions and saute till color change.
  • Now add red, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves and saute for a minute.
  • Then add carrot, beans, peas, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt needed.
  • Now add 3 cups of water and add samba rava, mix well and taste it (if required add salt and chilli).
  • Close the lid and allow   2 whistle in medium flame and reduce the flame, wait for 2 mins and off the gas.
  • As soon as the pressure is released, open it and add coriander leaves and 1tsp of coconut oil, mix well.
  • Ready to serve South Indian Samayal easy and healthy samba rava kichadi with curd, raita or coconut chutney.
