Onion Thool Bajji – Vengaya Pakoda

Ingredients

  • Large red onions -1 sliced
  • Bajji flour ready mix – 1/2 cup (available in store)  Or use the below items 
  • Bengal gram flour -1/2 cup
  • Rice flour – 2 tbsp    
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilies chopped - 3 or red chilli powder – 2 tsp
  • Garlic paste - 1 tsp 
  • Curry leaves few chopped
  • Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil for frying

Preparation

  • Mix all the ingredients together except onion and oil.
  • Check for salt and spicy taste.
  • Now heat the pan with oil.
  • Add onion to the flour mixture, mix well.
  • Now add water very less amount. Don’t add much water.
  • Add 1tbsp of hot oil to the mixture and mix well.
  • If you feel the mixture look dry, add few drops of water and mix.
  • Now add the onion mixture to oil (just sprinkled) and fry till golden colour on medium flame.
  • Remove and place the baji on kitchen tissue.
  • Ready to serve Onion thool bajji with coconut chutney, Idli Milagai Podi or tomato sauce.
